About Avail
The Mission
My goal is to guide law firms to understand the factors that affect a client’s case (medical, mental health, emotional, etc.). Building on that knowledge, I show how to construct a more thorough case that encapsulates these factors. Ultimately, my objective is to train firms to humanize their clients. This can lead to better communication with the clients, higher likelihood of positive case outcomes, and potential for decreased recidivism.
It all began in a cramped multipurpose closet in a county jail. Among other roles in that job, I led substance use and addiction counseling groups for inmates. Leading these groups affirmed for me that people need assistance and humanity prior to being “booked in.” My experiences reiterated that individuals need a champion and an advocate before they are “in the criminal justice system.” The less incarceration an individual experiences, the higher likelihood that they will have access to appropriate mental health, medical, addiction, and other necessary treatment options.
